6. FAD-Conference "The challenge - exhaust aftertreatment for diesel engines"
5th and 6th November 2008 in Dresden
Today, five years after the first conference issues like climate change, resources stringency and its results on the economic growth as well as securing future mobility are consolidated in the public awareness. They even influence political decisions and require a comprehensive view of the carbon dioxide and pollutant emissions caused by combustion engines. In order to discuss and to exchange information about this important topic 233 participants from 15 countries met on the 6th FAD-Conference on 5 and 6 November 2008 in Dresden.
The interesting technical contributions of the conference and the parallel exhibition gave an insight in how the vehicle-, supplier and measurement-technique industry face the technological challenge of reducing the pollutant emissions.
Successes in this field push on one hand the further globally tightening of the emission legislation and enable on the other hand the compliance of lowest limit values. This year´s contributions also proofed that new combustion processes and fuels require the adjustment of the engine hardware and exhaust aftertreatment to the modified conditions. The development of the emission legislation as well as the quality control of the available exhaust aftertreatment systems and components were discussed at the conference.
The conference, technical exhibition as well as the social evening offered various possibilities for exchanging information, showing trends and discuss objectively. We sincerely thank the 23 speakers as well as the 13 exhibiting companies and institutions for their commitment.
As it was repeatedly affirmed: The exhaust aftertreatment for diesel engines is and will be a challenge. Therefore the 7th FAD-Conference will be organized on 4 and 5 November 2009.
The proceedings can be requested in the FAD-office. A CD with all contributions and presentations will be published in December 2008.
